Week in Review

It has been a LONG WEEK, but good one. Last Saturday I ran a 5K with my friend Susie. It is Bright Night, a night time run in Greenville. This is one of my favorite races to do. It is done in May and you can check out their website and join me next year http://www.brightnight5k.com/ ! I had my best running time to date! I ran it in 29:30!!! I couldn't believe it! This was on my bucket list this year is to run a 5K in under 30 minutes, but I wasn't expecting it to happen this early! So now I have to create some new goals for this year. After thinking about it I've decided to participate in a 1/2 marathon! WHAT? Am I crazy? I've said it before and I will say it again, never did I ever think that I would be paying someone to let me run, if anything they would be paying me :-) Anyway, I've started to increase my running distance. I ended up running 5 miles this week. I will continue 5 until I can do it and not get too out of breath. I will then work on increasing it little by little.
Garrett has been SO FUNNY and cute as a button. He also has worn me out, but what 2 year old doesn't? A couple of things he has done this week are: On Monday or Tuesday he crawled up in my lap and said "Squeeze me mommy". I was so touched that he wanted to snuggle. I gave him a BIG hug and squeezed him. He then farted on me...boys! I said Garrett what do you say? He then smiled and said "Exsqueeze me mommy". I died! Too funny.
Once a week we have someone (alternate between Preston, Susan and my parents) come over and spend a couple of hours with Garrett while Josh and I get to go out and have a date night or just time to ourselves. We are VERY lucky to have this many family members (and more) to come over and help! This week Preston came. I had to work late, so I came home first and Preston said he wasn't sure, but G may have a poop. I took him inside for a bath and asked him if he had one. He said "NO mommy, no poop". I could smell the fact that he had one, but he kept smiling and saying no he didn't have one. So finally I was able to pull his diaper and check and of course there was a "pie" in there. I said "ewwww Garrett you do have one" and he looked at me and said "GOTCHA mommy!". Seriously...where did he learn this? I was so tickled. How did he know he was pulling a prank? It amazes me how smart toddlers are!
One problem we are having with him is the amount of times he repeats himself over and over and OVER again!!! He will say the same phrase up to 6 times in a row. Our ears hurt by the end of some days. Daycare acknowledged this issue so we are working together to get him to say things one time and one time only! We will see what happens! He also got in trouble this week for throwing shovels over the fence. Luckily he hasn't done it again!
Today I showed him a picture of Jesus and asked him who it was. Up to this point he would never say who it was. He said "It's Jesus mommy" I was SO EXCITED that he recognized who it was! He then said "Jesus Loves Me mommy" I could have just melted. He then attempted to sing Jesus Loves Me. Precious isn't the word. He mixed it with twinkle twinkle little star and then proclaimed that he had a dump truck on his shirt! Ha...I can't wait to see what comes from it!
