Week in Review

It has been a LONG WEEK, but good one. Last Saturday I ran a 5K with my friend Susie. It is Bright Night, a night time run in Greenville. This is one of my favorite races to do. It is done in May and you can check out their website and join me next year http://www.brightnight5k.com/ ! I had my best running time to date! I ran it in 29:30!!! I couldn't believe it! This was on my bucket list this year is to run a 5K in under 30 minutes, but I wasn't expecting it to happen this early! So now I have to create some new goals for this year. After thinking about it I've decided to participate in a 1/2 marathon! WHAT? Am I crazy? I've said it before and I will say it again, never did I ever think that I would be paying someone to let me run, if anything they would be paying me :-) Anyway, I've started to increase my running distance. I ended up running 5 miles this week. I will continue 5 until I can do it and not get too out of breath. I will then work on increasing it little by little.
Garrett has been SO FUNNY and cute as a button. He also has worn me out, but what 2 year old doesn't? A couple of things he has done this week are: On Monday or Tuesday he crawled up in my lap and said "Squeeze me mommy". I was so touched that he wanted to snuggle. I gave him a BIG hug and squeezed him. He then farted on me...boys! I said Garrett what do you say? He then smiled and said "Exsqueeze me mommy". I died! Too funny.
Once a week we have someone (alternate between Preston, Susan and my parents) come over and spend a couple of hours with Garrett while Josh and I get to go out and have a date night or just time to ourselves. We are VERY lucky to have this many family members (and more) to come over and help! This week Preston came. I had to work late, so I came home first and Preston said he wasn't sure, but G may have a poop. I took him inside for a bath and asked him if he had one. He said "NO mommy, no poop". I could smell the fact that he had one, but he kept smiling and saying no he didn't have one. So finally I was able to pull his diaper and check and of course there was a "pie" in there. I said "ewwww Garrett you do have one" and he looked at me and said "GOTCHA mommy!". Seriously...where did he learn this? I was so tickled. How did he know he was pulling a prank? It amazes me how smart toddlers are!
One problem we are having with him is the amount of times he repeats himself over and over and OVER again!!! He will say the same phrase up to 6 times in a row. Our ears hurt by the end of some days. Daycare acknowledged this issue so we are working together to get him to say things one time and one time only! We will see what happens! He also got in trouble this week for throwing shovels over the fence. Luckily he hasn't done it again!
Today I showed him a picture of Jesus and asked him who it was. Up to this point he would never say who it was. He said "It's Jesus mommy" I was SO EXCITED that he recognized who it was! He then said "Jesus Loves Me mommy" I could have just melted. He then attempted to sing Jesus Loves Me. Precious isn't the word. He mixed it with twinkle twinkle little star and then proclaimed that he had a dump truck on his shirt! Ha...I can't wait to see what comes from it!

Result are in and Reunion Weekend

Last weekend was a big weekend for me! It all started with my first weigh in since starting with my trainer Anthony. I was very pleased with my results! I lost 7.5 pounds my first month! Wahoo! I also lost 3.5 inches in my waist! I still have a while to go, but it was great to make a huge dent in what I had to loose. I really have enjoyed this journey and can't wait to see where it will go and end up! I am fortunate enough to do this with a good friend and coworker of mine, Susie. We train together on Tuesday mornings and work out together multiple times during the week. In fact, tonight we are doing a 5K together. I've never been one to work out with someone, but I wouldn't want to do this with out her!
After getting those wonderful results, I was off to a fabulous weekend with my girlfriends. Our 10 year reunion from Meredith College was last weekend. It is so hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we graduated! I met some of my best friends in college and we have all done such a wonderful job keeping in touch. We try to get together a couple of times a year and realize that girl time is important.
We went up on Friday night and when we arrived on campus there was a balloon arch waiting for us as we drove in! They had one when we moved in as Freshman and I was so excited to see it when we arrived! We stayed in the dorms and it brought back such fun memories. They even smelled the same! So much has changed since we were students. They now have amazing apartments on campus and there are so many new buildings. It is just amazing. I don't think I could find my way around if I had to!
Friday night we were treated to a party at the President's house where The Band of Oz played. It was SO MUCH FUN!!!! We then continued the party across the street to a bar and walked home. It was a lot of fun!
Saturday I got to sleep in! AWESOME! I never get to do that, so it was wonderful! We went to a brunch and didn't have any children rushing us! I missed Garrett, but it was nice to have adult time :-)
We also had a baby sprinkle for our dear friend Natalie, who adopted a beautiful baby girl Meg. It was fun sharing in celebrating Natalie in her new journey. That night we went to Solas in downtown Raleigh and had a blast. Sunday morning I was up early to come home and see my guys!
Josh and I also started the journey of joining Covenant Church by starting our classes. We finish our class tomorrow.
It was so much fun and look forward to it for our 15 year reunion.

Big Week

Well it is only Tuesday, but man it's been a long week! I have my 10 year college reunion this weekend and AM SO EXCITED! I love these girls and it is fun getting together ! We all have such a good time together! Meredith College is such a small college and I cherish the time I had there. I met such good friends and feel blessed to have them in my life. It is going to be fun. Hopefully I can keep to my new "diet" aka lifestyle change. As I mentioned before I've been training with a trainer for the past month. I'm nervous about not going crazy this weekend. I always get nervous when I'm not in control over what I'm eating. I've already prepared some and picked up some "healthy" snacks. I might make some "healthy" brownies too and try them out? We will see!
I also have my big weigh in on Friday. We weigh in once a month with Anthony and this will be the first one. I am super nervous/excited about this one! I don't do well with letting people down. I think the main person I'm worried about letting down is myself. I seem to always have huge goals for myself. Hopefully I can keep be excited with whatever the outcome is :-)

I will leave you with a couple of cute things Garrett has said:

On Sunday when walking into Target we passed a bigger guy with a long white beard. He happened to be a biker dude. Garrett looked at him and said "Santa!" I said, "Did you say Santa?" He said "Yes, it's Santa!!!" SO STINKING CUTE!!!

Also, Sunday morning (Mother's Day) I said: "Garrett today is MOMMY'S day!" He said, "No, today is Garrett's Day"....bless! Ha!
