Time to press the restart button

To say we have been busy is an understatement. I have more blogs to come from my brother getting married and then going on vacation. We have been going a hundred miles per hour (or so it feels) for the past month. I have been letting things that are important to me slip away. I have not exercised, I have been eating like it's my last meal and I haven't been putting God first in my life. I know I have gained weight and I'm tired because of what I've been eating. It is a vicious cycle. I am not eating right which is causing me to put on weight, what I'm eating gives me zero energy, which makes me not want to work out! You get the picture!

So this week I started trying to get back on track...somewhat! Ha! I have a long way to go, but am happy with where I am headed.

Every Tuesday morning I have a Bible study with a wonderful woman from church. We talked and I've decided to start getting up about 20-25 minutes before Garrett gets up and have my quiet time. This is the one thing that I get an A+ for this week. Tuesday through Friday I got up and had my quiet time. Saturday I didn't do any because we went to church. Sunday I did it in the afternoon. I've enjoyed my time and am also journaling so that I can see where God is working in my life.

Exercising...well probably a C- at best. Ha! I worked out two times this week. The goal for this next week is to work out three times. I don't want to kill myself. I've lost my enjoyment for working out. I used to LOVE the gym and LOVE exercising. I got burned out. It wasn't fun anymore. So I am getting back to having fun. I want to shed whatever weight I have put on, but I'm not getting on a scale. I don't think. I am trying not to focus on numbers. We will see how it works out.

My eating habits were better this week. I did have fruits and veges and didn't eat out as much. I plan on trying not to eat out at all this week for lunch. We will see how it goes. I'm also trying to cook at home more. Saves money and calories!

Well now that we had a nice weekend at home....here is to a successful week! More posts to come about Preston and Nicole's wedding, couponing, Topsail Island and the other fun we have been having this summer.

Random ME

I blog a lot about Garrett, but thought I would take a few minutes just to remember things that I am doing and remember the randomness of moi!  Ha.  Here are a few things about me that you may or may not know:
  • I honestly feel like I am going to have to start letting everyone know when I get gas for the car.  I swear that EVERY time I go and get gas, the price drops within hours and by the next day a dramatic drop.  By the way I will be getting some Saturday probably, so Sunday would be your best bet!  Ha!
  • I love drugstores.  I could spend all day shopping in these stores.  I love to get a good deal and am wanting to try about any new product!  I also love a coupon and get SO excited when I find a good deal.  I have just used up a stock pile of beauty supplies that I got in November of 2009.  I hadn't had to buy body wash for almost 2 years.  I am now having to go through all my coupons and try and find "good deals" again!
  • I have piles everywhere.  I am honestly a messy person.  My husband on the other hand is Mr. Clean.  I have a million pocketbooks and "stuff" everywhere.  My husband is sweet and organizes them into piles until I go through them.  It's just not as important to me.  I had one box that sat for months before going through it!
  • Speaking of being unorganized, my pocketbook is ridiculous.  Josh always cringes when I ask him to get something out of my pocketbook.  Especially when my phone is in there somewhere.  Ha!  I feel like Mary Poppins with the amount of junk I have in my pocketbook!  I am going to share a picture of my pile out of my pocketbook before cleaning it out (don't judge):
  • I love the pool!  I love the beach.  I could stay outside all day.  Seriously if there is a breeze and I have a book and music.  I'm in heaven.  LOVE IT.  Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to look like tanning mom.  I use a minimum of SPF 30.
  • I am loving my new to me car!  I feel like I am driving another persons car.  I feel like I have to pinch myself sometimes...ha!
  • I could eat Chinese food almost every day.  I am not exaggerating at all.  When I was pregnant the people at my favorite Chinese restaurant knew my order when I called.  I would place the order:  Chicken and broccoli spicy hot with steamed rice.  Then I would hear "oh hey Kim how are you doing?"  Ha!  Luckily my boss and coworker love it as much.  We have it at least once a week if not twice.  We had it yesterday and I bet we will have it again Thursday or Friday :-)
  • Speaking of food...have you had the Dorito Taco???  SO good!!!  Go and get you one!
  • I've had a whistle in my nose for a week now.  It drives me NUTS.  I can't stand it!  Tonight Garrett heard it for the first time and couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  He said "mommy how youse whistling?"  ha!  I told him through my nose.  He was shocked.  Hilarious!
  • I am truly enjoying Christian music.  I actually have some downloaded on my i pod and use it when I'm having a crazy day.  A few of my favorites are:
  • Still loving reality TV.  You name it, I love it!
  • I love the season of fresh fruit and vegetables!  I love them so much and just another reason to love summer time!
  • I read blogs about people I don't know about.  I'm nosy.  I'll admit it.  I have multiple a few blogs that I have never met the people and never plan to meet (although I would love it!).  I also love people watching.  I can't get enough.  One time Josh and I were on a date and the people behind us were on a HORRIBLE first date.  It was like Christmas came early.  I loved listening in and felt so sorry for the poor girl!
  • I love an excuse to eat bad.  I love gas station food!  Vacations and road trips are my favorite!
  • I wish that I knew how to put on makeup and wear jewelry more.  I just don't wear either a lot.  I want to get better about it and feel more put together.  I am jealous of those that accessorise and pull it off.  maybe one day!
This is a look into me.  Hope you enjoy and if you would like to join me for people watching please let me know!

Holden Beach 2012...Our own Pirate Adventure

Well this year I got Josh to take off a few days so that we could head down to Holden Beach.  I love the beach, just love it.  Josh on the other hand is not a fan of the beach.  Luckily now that Garrett is here he tolerates enjoys it more since he can play on the beach.  My idea of a perfect day at the beach is a chair, a good book, some good music, beer and a few snacks while the wind is flowing.  Vacation is fun since you don't feel guilty about having a beer at lunch.  I love that!
We came down on Thursday afternoon and stayed through Monday afternoon.  At Holden Beach our cottage is on the beach and with a 3 year old it makes such a difference.  You can run down to the beach for 2 minutes or stay for 2 hours and all of your "stuff" is right there at the house, including a bathroom.  It makes a HUGE difference with the little ones.  Also there isn't much to do at Holden except beach and I love that.  I think there are two restaurants and they do have a water slide.  So lots of family time.
So I was BEYOND excited to get down for some rest & relaxation...then I learned never to get too excited about things and get your hopes up because most of the time it doesn't work out like it's supposed to in your head.
Thursday we played on the beach some, but Garrett was moody.  He didn't nap on the way down (that was one of the things I had in my mind.  G was going to take an awesome nap on the way down so that we could have so much fun...).  The positive to this is that we knew he would CRASH when he finally went to sleep.  This was the first year we didn't have to travel with a bed rail or pack and play.  It was nice.  We took turns sleeping in his room.  Thursday was my night.  G is not a good nap sleeper, but gets 5 gold stars for sleeping during the night.  He usually does great.  WELL Thursday night we got maybe 5 hours of sleep.  He would wake up and cry for no reason and then back to sleep for a few minutes.  Just as I was about to fall back asleep every time I would hear him cry again.  I was sooo ill.  He told me that he wanted to go home that he didn't like it there.  UGH.  I didn't know where any of this was coming from.  Luckily Josh was in another room so he got a good night sleep and we all weren't sleep deprived.
Friday my parents came up to spend the rest of the time with us.  Garrett loves spending time with all of his grandparents, so I knew that would lift his spirits and whatever was going on with him would go away.  Ha.  Nope. Mr. Moody still hung around.  We took his temperature and he had a fever!  I felt so awful.  I just thought he was being a 3 year old, and he was sick.  Mom of the Year award for me!  About 6:00pm he started crying again about not feeling good and was pulling his ear.  He would cry every 5 minutes.  This is not like Garrett.  So we knew we needed to go to the doctor.  Going back and forth about calling it was 7:15pm when we called and they closed at 8:00.  We were at least 45 minutes away.  So we waited until the morning and went at 8am.  In case you are ever in the Wilmington/Leland area we went to Waterford Urgent Care and it was so nice!  Our pediatrician office takes at least 2 hours when we have to go for a sick visit.  UGH.  So we went in knowing that it could take some time.  We were in and out within 30 min and the staff was SO NICE!  So refreshing.  Turns out G had an ear infection.  Poor guy.  Garrett is allergic to one antibiotic and of course guess who didn't wright it down (again, Mother of the Year award).  So the doctor asked a few questions and prescribed a medication.  We went over to Rite Aid and got the prescription filled.  There was a creepy man in front of me complaining that his nose spray didn't work.  So the pharmacist was spraying it showing it did work.  We got our antibiotics and headed out to the car to administer that and Advil.  While we were sitting there Josh said "Lock your doors" and I looked up to find out why and when I did the passenger door opened (Josh was in the back with G entertaining him).  I screamed "GET OUT OF MY CAR".  The guy slammed the door and I locked it.  He then tried talking to me saying he thought it was his wife waiting.  I had the doors locked at this point and just yelled to him to go away.  I really think he wasn't trying to get into our car, but thought it was his.  It was scary and with little sleep, he caught my bad side.
Well we decided to call Target where we normally get our medications filled and double check to see if he was allergic to the meds we just administered....YES that was the one he was allergic to.  Of course it is.  SO we had to go back to the doctor and get another antibiotic.  It was a long morning and I was ready for my beer by lunch!
Here is a picture of G before meds:
This is before the doctor.  Lots of cuddling (the only good thing about being sick).
Look how pitiful he looks :-(

This was after his medication had kicked in.  Feeling MUCH better!
After his medications kicked in we had two GREAT days at the beach.  We got to have ice cream (super yummy), and play on the beach and then we tried to go to the water slide...closed.  Oh well, next year!
Here are some pictures (out of order) from our trip and I think I got trigger happy:
