Whoa, it has been about 2 months since I've updated my blog! A lot has happened over these past 2 months and I wanted to update you and then work on doing at least weekly posts.
November was a roller coaster of emotions. My grandmother was being moved from Greensboro to Greenville. I am so excited to have her in town now and she is doing so awesome now that she is getting appropriate care. She had lived on her own for a long time and just couldn't do it on her own. She is now in an assisted living home here in town. She is right around the corner from my office and it is a blessing!
While my mom was moving her from Greensboro to Greenville she had an abnormal mammogram and turns out that she has breast cancer. We have no history of breast cancer (or cancer at all really) in our family so this was out of the blue. The last two months have been filled with surgeons, radiologist and oncologists, and A LOT of prayer. Prayer is an amazing power and has truly helped us through this journey. I have been so in awe of my mom and how she has handled the diagnosis and how strong her faith is. She is such an amazing example to me and am so blessed to have her as my mom. Mom had her lumpectomy at the end of December. She did great and luckily the cancer was not in her lymph nodes. Her surgeon was amazing and is truly gifted. She will not have to do chemo, but will need to do radiation. That should start shortly. This was such a spiritual journey and will continue to be so. Please ladies, make sure that you have your annual exams and do monthly breast exams!
Josh's grandmother passed away as well. She was Gary's mother and a sweet and funny lady. She suffered a stroke many many years ago and ended up suffering another stroke that ended her life. She had such a spunk to her and was a breath of fresh air. She will be truly missed and will never be forgotten.
Some exciting news that we do have to share is that we moved! We had looked earlier in the year about moving and nothing worked out so we put moving on hold. Our neighbors told us that they were moving and we were so bummed. They are in the ministry and were called to Hickory, NC. We asked them if we could look at their house for some friends of ours and fell in love with their house. We never realized how much space they had in their home and were very excited about the possibilities. They also had a playroom! Oh my goodness...we were just dreaming of the possibilities. We looked on a Saturday and they were going to put their house on the market on Tuesday. We made an offer and the rest is history! We moved in at the beginning of January and are loving our new home. I will do a post on the house soon!
I also need to do a new picture for our blog because I chopped my hair! I donated it and am loving the new cut!
Well this brings us up to speed and I will be posting more regularly now.
Oh Kim, I had no idea all this was going on. Praying for your family, especially your mom, as you continue on through 2013. Hugs!!
